ABOUT

Meet Danny the Sweep

Danny the Sweep is a fully qualified member of the Guild of Master Sweeps. The Guild is the oldest and most prestigious of all the trade associations. Its members undergo rigorous training and assessment to ensure the highest possible standards in the sweeping trade.

Danny utilises a range of techniques including power sweeping, Viper systems and traditional methods, adhering to the Guild’s requirements for the myriad different designs of stoves, flue’s and open fires on the market.

Together with a thorough sweep, Danny will also conduct an external inspection of your chimney stack, conduct a smoke test on every fireplace or stove to check there is sufficient draw, give advice on the placement of Carbon Monoxide detectors, issues with linings and, crucially, how to burn your fuel for optimum performance, economy, safety, thereby limiting environmental impact.

Additional services offered

I don’t just sweep chimneys. Here are some of the other services I offer to keep you using your fire or stove safely over the winter months.

Bird nest removal

Once the birds have left their nests, I can safely remove them from your chimney before I sweep it. Left in place, nests pose a real risk of fire.

Rope replacement

If the rope around your log burning stove is worn or damaged, I can replace it for a more efficient burn with less risk of a smoke leak.

Stove refurbishment

From glass replacement to full repainting and refurbishing, give your stove a new lease of life. Talk to me about options and prices.

YOUR HOUSEHOLD INSURANCE

Read the small print

If you use a solid fuel woodburner or open fire even once a year, your house insurance will often require you to ensure that your chimney is swept once a year. It is very important to check your smallprint!

If a chimney is not swept, and a chimney fire results, you may not be insured. Equally, it is often difficult to detect whether or not a bird nest is present in your flue. A sweep will ensure that creosote, soot or other flammable materials are safely removed and your fire can be enjoyed for another year.
